Ali Larter was born on February 28, 1976 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She began modeling at the age of 13. She moved to Los Angeles to study acting. Her first professional work was a role in the television series Chicago Sons in 1997.

In 1999, she had her breakthrough role in the film Varsity Blues, followed by the horror films House on Haunted Hill and Final Destination.

She had supporting roles in films, including Legally Blonde and A Lot Like Love. She is also best known for her dual roles of Niki Sanders and Tracy Strauss in the science fiction drama Heroes.
