Biography:

Tracie Thoms was born on August 19, 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland, US. After graduating from Howard University with a BFA degree, she studied drama at Juilliard School. Pursuing a career in acting, she first starred as Sasha in the short-lived series As If in 2002. After this, she played Mahandra McGinty in the Fox series Wonderfalls.

As a movie actress, Thoms debuted in 2004’s Brother to Brother. She went on to have performances in such films as Rent, The Devil Wears Prada, Descent, Death Proof, and Sex and Breakfast. But her breakthrough happened on the small screen after she got the part of Kat Miller in Cold Case. When it ended in 2010, she starred in the short-lived program Bandwagon: The Series. Since 2018, Thoms has been starring as Karen Wilson in 9-1-1.
