Biography:

Tabu was born on November 4, 1971 in Hyderabad, India. She began her career with small roles in the 1980 film Bazaar, and in the 1985 film Hum Naujawan.

She then had her first role in the Telugu film Coolie No. 1. In 1994, she came to wider prominence for her role in Vijaypath, for which she also earned the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

In 2007, she starred in her first English-language movie, Mira Nair’s The Namesake. She also co-starred in Ang Lee’s 2012 film Life of Pi.

She has won the National Film Award for Best Actress twice and has secured four Filmfare’s Critics Award for Best Female Performer.
