Jena Malone Workout Routine

Jena Malone

Hollywood actress Jena Malone had her career beginnings as a child. Her first acting gig was in the TV movie Bastard Out of Carolina in 1996. During the same period, she starred in some independent films. This includes Ellen Foster and Donnie Darko. She also had supporting roles in some major films like Stepmom.

In the 2000s, she had notable roles in the movies Life as a House, Hitler: The Rise of Evil, Saved!, Pride & Prejudice, Into the Wild, and The Ruins. She continued her acting career in the 2010s with performances in Sucker Punch and The Neon Demon. She also became widely known for her role as Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games film series. Her latest movie is 2017’s Bottom of the World. She will also star in the upcoming movie The Public.

The actress has gone through vigorous physical training for her role as Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games films. With the movies’ action-packed scenes, she knew she had to look the part of a true warrior. Prior to The Hunger Games, she also starred in another action-oriented movie Sucker Punch. In an interview, she became candid about her physical training and overall experience. She revealed:

“Luckily, I did [an action] film called Sucker Punch a few years ago, which taught me what I could achieve in a gym. I lifted 235 pounds in preparation for that movie and my whole body transformed. The same stunt team—they’re called 87Eleven—got me in shape for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. We focused on martial arts–type training for the role of Johanna, which helped with stamina and endurance. I also did strength training with Patrick Murphy, who is kind of like a body sculptor. I trained five days a week for two months before we started filming, and then I kept it up during the months of shooting.”
