Sarah Drew was born on October 1, 1980 in Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S.. She finished a degree in drama from the University of Virginia. Her career originally began as a voice actress while still in high school, lending her voice for the role of Stacy Rowe in the animated show Daria. Her next notable role was as Hannah Rogers in Everwood.

After landing recurring roles in Private Practice and Mad Men, she achieved widespread recognition for her role as Dr. April Kepner in the medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy, a character she’s been portraying since 2009. She has also appeared in the movies The Baxter, American Pastime, Wieners, Tug, and Moms’ Night Out.
