Nina Hoss is a German actress whose career began in the 1990s. Her first starring role was in the television film A Girl Called Rosemary. In the 2000s, she mostly worked in German movies and TV films. Her performance as the lead in the 2007 film Yella gained her critical acclaim. For this, she won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin International Film Festival. After starring in the German feature films We Are the Night, Barbara, and Gold, she made her international debut with the 2014 movie A Most Wanted Man co-starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rachel McAdams. Between 2014 and 2017, she also became known for her role as Astrid in the Showtime series Homeland.
