It was in 1999 that Hollywood star Janel Parrish started acting professionally. She debuted as Hina in 2 episodes of Baywatch. This was followed by a role in the 2000 TV movie Geppetto. She later made guest appearances on The O’Keefes, The Bernie Mac Show, Zoey 101, and The O.C. Her first recurring role was as May on the NBC series Heroes. After this, she appeared as Kyla in an episode of True Jackson, VP. In 2007, she made her big screen debut playing the role of Jade in the film Bratz. She next appeared in the films Fired Up! and April Showers.

In the 2010s, she gained mainstream prominence courtesy of her role as Mona Vanderwaal on the Freeform (former ABC Family) series Pretty Little Liars. She starred on the show from 2010 to 2017. Simultaneously, she had supporting parts in the movies Triple Dog, Celeste and Jesse Forever, and Until We Meet Again. She also appeared on Dancing with the Stars as a contestant for its 19th season, as well as starred in the TV movie High School Possession. She will reprise her role as Mona Vanderwaal in the upcoming Pretty Little Liars sequel Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. This year, she has also starred in the films To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Hell Is Where the Home Is, and Tiger.

Aside from sticking to a healthy diet plan, the film and TV star maintains her slender figure and healthy body by working out as much as she can. Despite her busy shooting hours, she knows she has no excuses when it comes to strengthening her physique through exercises. In an interview with Self, she got candid about her workout routine. When asked about her favorite ways to stay fit, she said: “I’m lucky to have parents who used to be bodybuilders! They help me keep fit by going to the gym and training with me. I’m also addicted to Cardio Barre classes and hiking.”
