Biography:

Laura Carmichael was born on 16 July 1986 in Southampton, Hampshire, UK. She studied acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She graduated in 2007. She started her professional acting career on stage in 2009. She also made her film debut around the same time, appearing in the movie House at the End of Our Street. She next had a minor role in The Heart of Thomas Hardy.

In 2010, she got her break after landing the role of Lady Edith Crawley on the hit British period drama Lady Edith Crawley. She played the said role until 2015. Simultaneously, she appeared in the films Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Madame Bovary. She recently acted in the features A United Kingdom and Marcella.
