Biography:

Karen Elson was born on January 14, 1979 in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. She began her career as a model when she was discovered at age 16 by the owner of Boss models in Manchester.

Her modeling breakthrough came when noted American photographer Steven Meisel shot her for the cover of Italian Vogue on her 18th birthday. She has since appeared in campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Versace, Christian Dior, and Burberry.

She also found success in being a recording artist. Her debut solo album, The Ghost Who Walks, was released in May 2010, to positive reviews. It was produced by her then-husband Jack White.
