Biography:

Jemima Kirke was born on April 26, 1985 in London, United Kingdom and was raised in New York City. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting.

She made her acting debut in 2005 with the short film Smile for the Camera. In 2010, actress and filmmaker Lena Dunham asked her to play a supporting role for her directorial debut Tiny Furniture.

In 2012, she gained wider recognition after being cast as Jessa Johansson in the HBO series Girls, which was also created by her friend Lena Dunham.
