Hugh Jackman was born on October 12, 1968 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He attended the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts of Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia and graduated in 1994.

In 1999, he was cast as Wolverine in the film X-Men, replacing Dougray Scott, then in 2001, starred as Leopold in the romantic comedy film Kate & Leopold. For his performance, he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.

He has been known for his leading roles in such films as Van Helsing, The Prestige, Australia, Real Steel, Les Misérables and Prisoners, among others.
