Biography:

Dev Patel was born on April 23, 1990 in Harrow, Greater London, England born to Indian immigrants. He started acting as a child in school plays. His professional screen debut came in 2007 when he played a recurring role on the British show Skins. Soon, he found greater success when he was cast for the lead role in the award-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, for which he received many nominations, including a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

This led him to star in other feature films, including The Last Airbender, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, About Cherry, The Road Within, and Chappie. His most recent work on the big screen is The Man Who Knew Infinity. He is also best known for his notable character on the television series The Newsroom, which he played from 2012 to 2014.
