Ashley Johnson was born on August 9, 1983 in Camarillo, California, U.S. Her acting career began at an early age when she appeared as the title character in the television film Annie: A Royal Adventure!.

From 1990 to 1992, she gained wider recognition for playing Chrissy Seaver in the series Growing Pains. She followed this with her portrayal of Mary Margaret Doolan in the TV show Phenom.

In 2000, she gained wider fame as Alex Marshall in the movie What Women Want. She has since starred in other feature films including The Failures, Killer Diller, King of the Corner, Nearing Grace, Fast Food Nation and many others.
